Carbon footprint and climate contribution
We want to explain transparently which greenhouse gas emissions we estimate for the production, packaging and transport of our boards, and which climate project we support separately.
Important: A financial contribution to a climate project does not change the emissions of our products. It does not make our boards carbon neutral.
Our approximate calculation
For 1,000 boards, we estimate approximately 1 metric tonne of carbon dioxide equivalents (CO2e). The estimate includes:
- 680 kg CO2e for transporting our goods from Indonesia by truck and ship (source: Arktik.de).
- 100 kg CO2e for packaging materials (source: MM Group).
- 200 kg CO2e for raw material extraction, local transport and energy used in production. We use flat-rate estimates based on a study by Climatop.
Orders are shipped to our customers with DHL. Information about DHL climate measures is available on the DHL website.
These figures are estimates based on the named sources. They are not a verified life-cycle assessment and may not include all emissions across the full life cycle of an individual board.
Our additional climate contribution
We have also purchased certificates through atmosfair for a project in Indonesia. According to atmosfair, the project in Java supports composting and recycling measures designed to avoid methane emissions and waste.
We present this support separately from our product-emissions estimate. We therefore do not describe our boards as carbon neutral or climate friendly.
Why we publish this information
We want to disclose our assumptions and the limits of the calculation. This lets you see which areas are included, what the estimate is based on, and how the additional climate contribution differs from the product-emissions estimate.
